Esperanza

Esperanza

$8.52

Never mind that in 2005–at the age of 20–Esperanza Spalding became the youngest instructor in the history of Berklee College of Music. It’s what’s on wax that counts–or CD, or MP3, if preferred. On Esperanza, her debut set for Heads Up International, Spalding presents a prowess on the acoustic bass that many bassists with far more experience could be inspired by. Need proof? Check out “Mela,” o…

Sesame Street - Fiesta!

Sesame Street – Fiesta!

$5.51

Fiesta means party in Spanish, and Sesame Street is pulsating with activity in this upbeat preschool program featuring Latino songs. Jim Henson’s Muppets join the fun while everyone’s favorite, Elmo, learns the Conga- Wiggle dance. Maria, Rosita, and Gabi create floats and costumes; even Oscar reluctantly partakes in the festivities. The dialogue is sparse in order to devote most of the 30-min…

Godfather 1 [VHS]

Godfather 1 [VHS]

$14.95

Generally acknowledged as a bona fide classic, this Francis Ford Coppola film is one of those rare experiences that feels perfectly right from beginning to end–almost as if everyone involved had been born to participate in it. Based on Mario Puzo’s bestselling novel about a Mafia dynasty, Coppola’s Godfather extracted and enhanced the most universal themes of immigrant experience in America: the …

Her partner Gale, who does the step-by-step instruction, is more a matter-of-fact, no-f…

The Passion of the Christ (Definitive Edition) [Blu-ray]

$13.80

After all the controversy and rigorous debate has subsided, Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ will remain a force to be reckoned with. In the final analysis, “Gibson’s Folly” is an act of personal bravery and commitment on the part of its director, who self-financed this $25-30 million production to preserve his artistic goal of creating the Passion of Christ (“Passion” in this context meanin…

Sin Nombre

Sin Nombre

$8.67

Although the phrase never appears in this documentary-style Spanish-language thriller, sin nombre means “nameless.” First-time California filmmaker Cary Fukunaga tracks two such individuals, emblematic of many immigrants, whose narratives converge by the suspenseful ending. Willy (Edgar Flores), a Mexican native who belongs to the brutal Salvadoran brotherhood Mara Salvatrucha is just trying to ma…

Latin Language?

Has anybody here taken Latin before?
Is there any website that sells Latin Language books with like a c.d. or an audio to listen too?

http://www.textkit.com/

This site has a lot of free downloadable books for learning both Latin and Greek, as well as an online community that you can go to for help. I don’t think they have audio courses, but you could probably get one from Amazon or Barnes & Noble. I took Latin in high school, Latin & Greek in college, and graduated from college with a BA Classical. I enjoyed it very much, they were the only classes I ever got straight As in, so best of luck to you!
