racist Halloween costumes?
I for one am sick and tired of some people, mostly white, who think its is ok to dress in stereotypical black of hispanic outfits for Halloween. Where is it ok for someone to put dark makeup on their face and have baggy jeans hanging off their ass? Where is it ok for some girls to put padding in their pants and wearing a curly wig. I for one am latin and find it insulting when people in my college do this. The scary thing is my friends, who are black, white and few spanish dress in costumes of their favorite tv characters or celebrities. We have never profiled other nationalities for Halloween the way most of the white people in my school do. Does any one else see where Im coming from. I think whats most frustrating is the fact that when dressed in their “costumes” they talk and walk different. I feel like this is their way of making fun us the few “minorities” in the school. All opinions welcomed.
I hate to break it to you, but stereotypes are based on reality. Either get over it, or dress up as a redneck to make yourself feel better.
